Artificial Thinkers
The Dark Truth Behind AI
If you are new here check out my last posts:
Innovation has died since the launch of the iPhone. Subsequently, I believe the most innovative product of my lifetime has killed innovation.
Evolution = iPhone -> App Store -> Social Media
People’s mind space is being occupied more and more = less room for deep think. Therefore, less original ideas.
Artificial Thinkers
The biggest impact artificial intelligence (AI) will have on our lives will go largely unnoticed. Just like how the effects of social media weren’t apparent until after we all got hooked on it.
In order to understand what the future will look like we first must look back in time.
Past - Creative Thinkers
Present - Algorithm Thinkers
Future - Artificial Thinkers
In the past most thinking and new ideas were derived from what we saw around us. Cavemen would draw out stories. Artists painted their own unique renditions of people and places. Writers passed down histories greatest stories.
Today most of our ideas come from information we see online. We have access to more information than ever before and we can choose what we see. Social media platforms can show us content based on what we have liked or viewed in the past.
In the future AI will know us on such a deep level that it will be able to only show us things we like but it will start taking actions for us. You turn on the TV and it only shows you shows that you watch which sounds great but it closes us off to different points of view. People’s opinions will be further be validated making it harder to deviate or create their new ideas.
We are not doomed and its not all bad news. It is just something to be aware of. Be sure to always push yourself mentally and question beliefs that seem natural. You can learn a lot by viewing things from a different lens.
Take some time today to question beliefs that you have always thought to be true.
Play the devils advocate, understand the world on a deeper level.
This is where great ideas come from.
great read on taking risks and how less risk = less innovation
Lots of talk about how much it sucks to 9-5.
If you don’t like it, you should work for yourself!
That way you can work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week instead
